Essay on Eco-Poetics Reading in The Wate Land by T.S. Eliot
What is an eco-poetics reading of T. S. Eliotââ¬â¢s, ââ¬ËThe Waste Landââ¬â¢? In this discussion of Eliotââ¬â¢s poem I will examine the content through the optic of eco-poetics. Eco- poetics is a literary theory which favours the rhizomatic over the arborescent approach to critical analysis. The characteristics of the rhizome will provide the overarching structure for this essay. Firstly rhizomes can map in any direction from any starting point. This will guide the study of significant motifs in ââ¬ËThe Waste Land.ââ¬â¢ Secondly they grow and spread, via experimentation within a context. This will be reflected in the study of the voice and the language with which the poem opens. Thirdly rhizomes grow and spread regardless of breakage. The absence of water is emphasised through repetition: ââ¬ËIf there were water And no rock If there were rock And also water And water A spring A pool among the rock If there were the sound of water only.ââ¬â¢ So dehydrated are the people that they are hallucinating, seeing people who are not there,(ââ¬ËWho is the third who walks always beside you?ââ¬â¢ ) There is the same stagnation that characterises the previous scenes; ââ¬Ëdry sterile thunder without rain.ââ¬â¢ There is an air of menace as ââ¬Ëred sullen faces sneer and snarl/from doors of mudcracked houses ââ¬â¢ and this menace is realised as the cities of Jerusalem, Athens, Alexandria, Vienna and London

Personal Statement On Principles Of Responsibility,...
ââ¬Å"There has to be some common ground.â⬠I caught the tail end of this sentence during a morning radio news story while commuting to work. Although the story was about the recent polarizing presidential election, the phrase stuck with me throughout the day. As I continue to critically reflect on my ethical framework for this paper, I will write about my core values in relation to Thomas G. Planteââ¬â¢s RRICC principles of responsibility, respect, and concern for others from his book ââ¬Å"Do the Right Thing,â⬠as well as other underlying morals and how they guide my actions. For the RRICC principles to be effective in living an ethical life, I recognize that a middle ground has to be reached. These values cannot be seen in an all or nothing sense. Each principle has difficulties and each has proven to be effective when that middle ground is met. From these principles, I can see that there is a common bond between me and others, whether the social connection is cultural, societal, familial, or professional. This paper will show how the actualization of the certain moral principle of responsibility, respect, and concern for others are the centerpiece in the foundations of my ethical framework. For instance, we cant expect based on the previous year annual report that the firm through its strategy will attain their levels of corporate goals. Therefore, there is need of coming up with strategic management ways that could handle the issues of management (Kay Smith, 2015). This is because of the decreased amounts in terms of assets available. The only significant recommendation that I could provide is that they should seek a new business model to enhance their operation, and create some partnership with other firms to lower their risk levels. In conclusion, it becomes certain that the level of the firm work efficiently ongoing concern (Keightley, 2008). As a result, there is sufficient cash that continues to meet the liabilities as when they fall due, there is also raising of sufficient equity fund which share.
